Bryan welcome. I hope we can swap info. I'm in need that way. This site is in it's infancy from a feedback standpoint, so I hope you are interactive. I try to be. I'm out of the Chicago burbs, and trying to get t together out here. A…

Oscar, Hi It's been a few months since I contacted you. You had mentioned in the past (or eluded to) that you might be a distributor for Fuelmaster, or Phill. Anything new there? I hear March 2010 is the target date for release. Also I am…

You're good as long as nothing (bed, axle, or driveline) can hit the tank. You can't locate tanks ahead of the front axle or behind the rear bumper. As for access for inspection, the inspector needs to be able to see all areas of the tank…

It's been a little quiet here folks. I still need answers to questions I have. Dealing with older cars and the need to do a conversion to dual fuel is key here, since Chicago CNG prices are at $2.oo+ a gge. Yet I go over the border to…

The EPA has no mandate or regulatory authority for safety issues (Nor does CARB) they are only interested in air/water environmental issues (hence Environmental Protection Agency). Vehicle safety issues are regulated by: - Department of Transport…

Restrictions on tank locations for heavy duty trucks

I have seen an assortment of tank arrangements in other countries. Does the EPA say much about this? Can they just be anywhere they are safe and secure? Specifically I am thinking about between the axle and bed in a flat bed truck. What sort of access is needed for inspection and how often must they be inspected? Replaced?

Mike . Thanks for the response back. Any feedback on overall costs of the filling off of your home would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to see if a conversion makes financial sense here. I believe in a "green" fuel, but it has to…

Oscar. Thanks for the response. I was beginning to think I wasn't going to hear back on this issue, which is paramount. If the fuel costs are excessive, no conversion makes sense. Here in Illinois, at $2.19 a gge, it doesn't make sense at…

I'm in Wisconsin and the state regulates the utilities on the price (mark up) they can charge for public CNG. It may be different in Illinois. A Phill system draws about 10 cents per hour or 20 cents per gge. At my home it is 61 cents so lets…

I am of the opinion that those people who are pushing for "certified" training and conversions may be hurting the CNG Industry. I have not talked to anyone who does want safe or clean conversions but…Continue
